10 thoughts on “The Battle Against The Prince of The Power of The Air…

  1. If one takes the time to carefully parse the various temptations listed in Mathew and in Luke, one will see that there are actually more than three. One such example is the supposed time when the devil shows Him the “kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.” In one instance the word for world means the nations of the world, while in the other it is a different word which means the world kingdoms, that is to say, the plant kingdom the mineral kingdom etc., etc. While this may not be significant to many, it is intimately involved in how He could command the seas to quieten. I personally find it a marvel that while His disciples are freaking out, He is asleep (!).
The key to this, and perhaps why I am posting this is due to another thing the Lord said, namely “verily verily I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works I do SHALL (emphasis mine) he do also, and greater works than these SHALL (emphasis mine) he do because I go unto my Father”. (Jn 14:12). He controlled the weather, and as we receive revelation to do so, so can we. All things are possible to those who believe (what the Word says of course).
If Christians would rise up more and more to the standard He set for us, we would again see “Satan falling like lightening”. Luke10:18.
I added emphasis to the word ‘shall’ because it is a legal term that relates to a command. It is not actually optional as anyone who has received an edict from a judge in which it is said, “you shall do thus-in-such”. Call it a foible but KJV is the only version I am aware of that preserves this feature where the newer ones change the word to “will”, which implies an option of doing or not doing. “If you love me, keep my commandments”, remember?
    Thanks for letting me rant!

  3. “Our memory records both real and fake events and stores the information.”
When I read this it immediately took me back to a song that we as little kids sang in church.

Oh, be careful little eyes what you see
Oh, be careful little eyes what you see
There’s a Father up above and he’s looking down in love
So be careful little eyes what you see

Oh, be careful little ears what you hear…
Oh, be careful little ears what you hear
Oh, be careful little ears what you hear
There’s a Father up above and he’s looking down in love
So be careful little ears what you hear

Oh, be careful little mouths what you say…
Oh, be careful little mouths what you say
Oh, be careful little mouths what you say
There’s a Father up above and he’s looking down in love
So be careful little mouths what you say

Oh, be careful little feet where you go…
Oh, be careful little feet where you go
Oh, be careful little feet where you go
There’s a Father up above and he’s looking down in love
So be careful little feet where you go

    1. I was thinking of this song a few days ago. It brings back so many memories of when I was a child. If we all adhered to these words and let God guide our eyes, ears, mouths and feet in all we do on a daily basis, our lives would be so much simpler and better. Thanks for posting this for all to see.

  4. I check my email off and on throughout my day waiting for your articles Diane. You are a blessing and I thank you for your hard work putting all this craziness together so it makes sense.

  5. Was up and couldn’t sleep last night, so I started reading randomly in the New Testament and landed on Luke 11, where Jesus was asked by a disciple how we should pray. He answered with the Lord’s prayer, which we know so well — “Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name …” Some of us probably went to churches where that prayer was recited every week, (sometimes in an almost a mechanical fashion).

But Jesus didn’t stop there when teaching us how to pray. Two more big concepts were laid out immediately after the Lord’s prayer, and I needed to see that once again.

First, Jesus presented the concept of urgent persistence. He tells the story of someone who shows up at a friend’s house in the middle of the night and asks for bread. The initial response is — “go away, it’s late” but because the request continues to be urgent and persistent, that request is eventually answered. This is the only place in the King James Bible where the word “importunity” is used (Luke 11:14). It means urgent persistence, unrelenting, or asking continually at the risk of becoming troublesome. Jesus seems to be saying, “don’t give up, don’t be hesitant, be insistent.” If we are truly children of God, with faith in God and His Son Jesus Christ, then God is ready to hear our prayers and answer them. His answer may not be exactly what we expect, but He WILL answer prayers from those who are persistent and have faith in Him.

Then, secondly, Jesus gives us a template, like a model we can use to show us what we can expect when we pray. — “And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” — (Luke 11:9-10)

It was just so nice at 3 am to open His Word and re-read that guidance for the most powerful thing any of us can do. In my case, it was because of an illness to someone in my family. But our need for prayer can be anything that is on our hearts, whether sickness in our family, or troubles in our culture and society. Dianne has presented so many things that are worthy of our prayers, and in reading her wonderful articles, I needed a reminder to present those concerns by following the guidance my Lord has given — be persistent, with urgency, and lift my prayers up to a God who wants to hear from those who have faith in Him. Keep asking, keep seeking, and keep knocking.
