Rubio is doomed to have his wish…the wish to not have his senate seat. That seat he hates because nothing ever gets done in the senate. Florida Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-FL) is pushing a hard campaign to put Rubio out of his misery of having to make excuses as to why he never shows up to vote.
Others looking at Rubio’s senate seat are Congressman Tom Rooney (R-FL) and Congressman Ron DeSantis (R-FL), . Rubio’s good friend, Carlos Lopez Cantera (R), is strongly considering a run to grab it as well.
Their are many republican names being floated, among them are Jeff Atwater, currently the state’s chief financial officer; Pam Bondi, state attorney general; Will Weatherford, former speaker of the Florida House.
What ever happens, it looks like one thing is sure, Rubio will have his wish of no more senate…but his desire to be president is looking pretty grim.
That ship has surely sailed. I’m sure his boyish, immature remarks of why he’s leaving the senate that he so pompously blurted out at the second debate to justify his failed voting record, will forever echo between his ears.
I wonder what his new day job will be if he has nothing to offer in the way of getting things pushed for favors? Time will tell.
