Bringing Down Giants

When David fought the Giant, he was not a soldier. He was a shepherd and a youth, how did he do it? Can We do the same?

When David, was a youth he was sent by his father Jessie to send food and supplies to King Saul and his men who were at battle with the Philistines, and to check on his three brothers who were soldiers in Saul’s army. When he arrived, he saw the soldiers afraid of the Philistines and all feared to fight Goliath. For Goliath had stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and challenged them to send one man out to fight him one on one and if that man killed him, then the Philistines would be their servants, and if he killed the one they sent, then they would all be his servants and serve the Philistines.

1) David & Goliath (Website slide) | The Journey Bible Church

Before David arrived with provisions to Sauls camp, the scriptures tell us that Goliath had challenged King Saul and any of his soldiers to a one on one battle with him. He stood and yelled threats, made fun of them, said his gods were greater than Israels, he boasted and fumed and laughed at Saul and his men. He kept mocking them and egged them on to come forward and fight the Philistines. Saul and his army looked at the massive size of Goliath and listened to his threats and were afraid…they let fear stop them. With each threat and mocking their faith dwindled more and soon fear struck their heart, mind and soul and they were afraid to fight.

When David saw their lack of faith he tried to rally them to fight for the God of Israel. For doing this he was scoffed at and even told by his oldest brother to go back and tend to his fathers sheep. David did not give up, he insisted even more to stand and fight to not bring shame to the God of Israel for he knew he would win with God going into the battle with him.

To get to the point of the story, David finally convinced King Saul that he could slay Goliath, for he had the God of Israel with him, and the God of Israel had helped him slay a lion and a bear with his two hands and finally Saul agreed to let him fight. David boldly approached Goliath with five stones and his sling shot with all of the Philistines laughing and King Saul and his men wondering what would become of this and of them if he lost.

The Bible tells us that David took his staff in his hand and chose five smooth stones out of the brook and put them in his script, and marched toward Goliath with his staff in one hand and his sling in the other, appearing as though he was going to fight the giant of a man with his staff.

Goliath was disgusted that a youth approached him and taunted David shouting, “Am I a dog, that you come to me with a staves?” David didn’t flinch, so Goliath cursed David by his gods and threatened that if he continued he would give David’s flesh to the fowls of the air and the beasts.

But David stood firm and boldly shouted back at Goliath, “You come at me with a sword and spear and shield: but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied! This day will the Lord deliver you into my hand; and I will smite you, and take your head from you; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saved not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give you into our hands!”

David over Goliath: towards smaller models for cheaper, faster, and greener NLP | by Manuel Tonneau | Creatext | Medium

Goliath approached the battle field like a giant wall and David ran toward him as fast as he could. As David ran he took a stone from his pouch and placed it in his sling. He swung it over his head, round and round as he ran and released the stone, sending it sailing through the air with force, hitting Goliath smack in the middle of his forehead. Goliath was knocked out cold and fell to his face on the ground. David made haste and ran to him, and having no sword of his own, he took the sword of Goliath from his sheath and cut off his head.

When the Philistines saw Goliath was headless and dead, they fled and the men of Israel and Judah rose up, they shouted, and pursued the Philistines and slayed them.

David and Goliath (the Poem) - LetterPile

So why did I bring up this Bible story about David and Goliath?

We’ve been doing a lot of talking about taking down the giants, but we haven’t spent much time if any talking about the lack of faith Saul and his men had and why a youth named David stood up and came forward without fear to beg to be the one to slay Goliath. David had his heart, mind and soul on God and he believed God would be with him in this battle with all his heart. The others weren’t about to volunteer to fight, but they also weren’t trying to stop David either. The story lends the appearance that David had no big cheering section, and he was on his own looking rather frail in the face of Goliath.

The soldiers watched on and so did Saul, but I’m sure they were not at ease, nor filled with faith that David would win. They were more perplexed as to why this youth was running to his death, for the odds were, that is exactly what he was doing. Even the bravest and strongest of Saul’s men was not offering to go out and battle Goliath. It’s safe to say, no one thought David was going to win. I’m sure Goliath thought it was a joke.

Facebook

Imagine it…Goliath shouted insults and smears at King Saul and his army for forty days scoffing and belittling them. (Sounds like Fake news and treasonous Dems, don’t you think?) The result was King Saul and all the soldiers succumbed to fear and the more Goliath roared at them threatening how he was going to tear them apart, the weaker the soldiers grew. The power of what we think is so great. It halted the entire Army of Saul. Their fear of Goliath was greater than their faith in the God of Israel.

I wonder what Saul and his men were thinking? I’m sure the Philistines were laughing and waiting to watch David get crushed like a grape. Saul and his men probably wished David could do it, but it was obvious they didn’t really believe he could.

For the battle is the lord’s and he will deliver you into our hands….

If we are to take the lesson in this Biblical history of David slaying Goliath, what would it be? There are many lessons in this story, but the greatest is to have faith in God and fear not. When we love God with all our heart, mind and soul as David did there are times you are called to take a stand…at these times, we must remember that the battle is the Lord’s and he will deliver us from the hands of our enemies.

In the battle for our freedom with our very lives and the lives of our children at stake we have entered into a battle that we didn’t sign up for. The stakes are high. We lose they enslave us. They lose we can enslave or arrest them. As David, we were not a part of the military we came, we saw, and we asked questions. Many know our God will fight for us and deliver us and so we are not afraid. There are many around us that have little to no faith, they are overcome with fear. For you can not have fear and still have faith. Fear is the opposite of faith. Fear is a weapon of the devil and evil men, bullys who use it to torture and control their victims. The Bible tells us not to fear he who can only destroy the flesh, but to fear God who can destroy both the flesh and the soul.

Pin on My faith

David stepped out to fight in faith for the God of Israel. He slayed the giant in a minute. I mean he ran upon him fast, put his stone in his sling….swung it to build the right momentum and released and womp! Smacked that stone in the middle of the forehead and down goes Goliath! He runs up and draws Goliath’s (heavy) sword from its sheath and cuts off his head. Boom! In a flash! The sheer awe of it rallied the men with courage and they ran after the Philistines with a ferver and killed them all! David’s victory over the giant lifted the men’s fear and restored their faith in the God of Israel.

This story shows the true side of human nature and what it takes to bring down the giants. It is faith in God first…and when one steps out with faith and slays the giant, that right there can put the muscle back on dry bones and they will rise up fast.

When all hope is lost, and it looks grim, one unqualified person in the eyes of men, can be chosen by God because of their heartfelt faith. For it is not man’s brawn that wins the battle for God’s people, for God’s ways are not man’s ways. It is the person who loves and believes in God with all of their heart, mind and soul that God searches out and chooses to stand with.

The worse the odds are for the person to win, the more God shows off. He wants everyone to take notice…so there is a reason it is always darkest when the storm is raging….remember after the storm, the sun comes out and that is when we see the rainbow appear in the sky. God’s promise to his people.

Faith in God changes the entire outcome.

Victory against evil is won by having faith in God almighty, knowing he is with us in every part of the battle. Stand up and have faith as David. Be ready to do what God has called you to do. Whether you are to take bread and cheese to a hungry neighbor, pray for others or armor up and defend on the battle field.

We each are called according to God’s purpose. Comfort one another with love and lift one anothers spirits high in knowing God only allows threshing for a season. Knowing also that it is written that the meek shall inherit the earth….GET READY – FOR THIS IS THE GRAND FINALE and it will be BIBLICAL! He has promised to wipe the tears from every eye.

Thank you, Dianne, for this stirring, multilayered message on Faith–that is the primary tool in our tool box. When we have Faith in Our Father, Love and Believe Father, Obey the Commandments and Statutes Father gives, and follow the lead of Messiah, well, nothing, no one can harm us. . . . Right now, your messages help those who need to and are willing to see that Faith is the answer we already have. We have got this. We win, for Father has our backs–while we, every single Believer, do what we are Called on to do. And all the while, we know to keep on the full Armor of Father, never take it off.

Dianne,
A wonderful and very timely message! WE, as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, are to walk IN FAITH….not fear! As the enemy begins to attempt to force vaccinations upon We The People….how are we to respond? BY FAITH IN HIM! Fear is their tool and they desire to cause us to quake in fear and believe that we have no options. This is far from the truth! As we continue to focus on our Lord Jesus and walk in faith in Him, God will take this battle and continue to lift the veil and expose their works! This will backfire upon them! They think that they have the power to force the people to receive this jab, but as we stand firm, God will turn our situation against this “giant” and defeat him! The enemy will be exposed! NOTHING will stop the work of God as He prepares His harvest! Remain firm and continue to pray!

Amen, Sojournerwt! The more the enemy tries to push fear, the more power I feel from the Holy Spirit rising up higher and higher inside of me to stand firm, stand strong, stand in the light of his love. Only through the Holy Spirit could this occur in me. I owe the Lord everything. “All to him I owe, sin has left a crimson stain, he washed it white as snow.” Hallelujah!

Same here! They have zero credibility… actually, a negative zillion is more like it. It could be thundering and lightening outside, and if the media were on TV showing a map, reporting that it’s thundering and lightening outside… I still wouldn’t believe a word coming out of their mouths. 👎 ⛅☔☁⚡💧🌂👎

Awesome message, Dianne! Thank you!! As I was reading it, the following stood out to me…. When David went to King Saul, he drew inspiration from his previous experiences with God. He told Saul that God had already helped him slay a lion and a bear with his own two hands. What previous experiences have we had where God has came through for us, where God has shown his faithfulness to rescue us from our circumstances? Have we ever been healed when a health scare taunted us? Have we ever had God’s financial provision come at miraculous times? How about our loved ones? Have we seen the hand of God move on their behalf as we’ve pleaded to him in prayer? Just as David experienced God’s mighty hand in his past, we have a history of God’s faithfulness too. And just as David, we can let those past experiences springboard us into action in the present. Faith is an action. There is no complacency where faith exists. Our past motivates us to trust God in our present circumstances and our faith moves us to act. We all have a young David inside of us. #SlayAway. 💯Amen!💥🌠🌟

There are countless rocks, people beyond accurate count, & of these, what are the numbers of those committed to our Lord?
We have the tools, the Divine strength. We must rally ourselves in the Faith offered us, & Evil will be brought down.

So the criminal, racist, plagiarist, thief China joe thug is the impenetrable Goliath and the marxistdems cabal and Rinos along with the marxistdems media, omnipotent after all these months. If the vile regime is still recklessly handing out mandates, allowing illegal aliens invade & taking away rights of citizens by Christmas there’s no turning back. The USA is already destroyed by tyranny. President Trump told us several times it’s not that easy to stop the invasion of illegal aliens ( which are being sent at taxpayers cost all over 50 states) after he had worked so hard to put in place features to control it.
Again, complacency is the problem. If you own a Bible ( I have 2 Catholic Bibles) you can read the stories of the Old Testament. I enjoy Genesis and Noah’s Ark. None of the stories in the Old Testament will save you from the tyranny Americans are under ( political prisoners indefinitely incarcerated and persecuted, mask and vaccines mandates, high gasoline prices, churches closed etc.) unless you act. David did. Catholic armies during the Middle Ages and early modern Europe fought against formidable even larger muslim armies , won & kept them out of Europe. They attended Mass, received the Sacraments and prayed BUT actively fought against an evil cult.

I appreciate the few that share info & those that recognize that USA today is not even the one last year. The fraud usurper hussein was on steroids in his plan to fundamentally change the USA and rid/ignore the Constitution ( daca is unconstitutional and illegal). The marxistdems fight so hard for daca and other illegal aliens but not for Americans.

Complacency and inaction is the problem. We’re all doomed if the turd, illegitimate, plagiarist, racist, criminal, thief China joe thug and his horrible criminal cabal regime is not thrown out arrested and tried for treason and sedition. The punishment for both is _____.

St. Michael the Archangel protect us in battle against evil……………………

Thanks Diane, for this reminder and the encouragement of hearing about David and his faith. The times we are living in are a constant reminder that the devil is real and has taken over many in his quest to control all people! Years ago when I was in the ministry my favorite topic was that of faith and that believing what God said could and would change things in our lives. I used to get encouragement from listening to others that were faith builders like R.W. Shambach and others, and at the time I was driving all over about half of Indiana to support myself installing water softeners, so I had a lot of time to listen to the radio. Exercising our faith strengthens it, like a muscle, and in these times we certainly need to do just that, because without the exercise of our faith, it, just like our muscles, will dwindle away to weakness and fear! Since fear is the opposite of faith, that is why we are hearing the other side preaching fear 24/7 on radio, TV, papers, and everywhere! Let’s stand up and be counted as believers in the Lord Almighty and His word, it WILL strengthen us!

“The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.
And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord God.” Ezekiel 22:29-31

The flooding in China taking out the 3 Gorges Dam (China cabal) is a sign from God.
The awaking of our nation as President Trump, our King David, is taking down the cabal.
These are all signs that The Lords kingdom for mankind will be coming soon.
The military has issued this signal, “Get your house in order”. ( disruption in food and fuel supply).

Dianne, such a GREAT reminder of the power of our faith against everything evil that is thrown at us. Reminds us of faith that is the size of the tiniest mustard seed, which Jesus says will grow and bloom over time into something large enough for the birds to take shelter in.

It makes me wonder if God is ready to move but is still waiting for just one more person of great faith, maybe today, to come to His throne, seeking Him, asking Him to intervene, and knocking on His door in prayer, so God can demonstrate HIs response to the evil that mocks Him.

As you wrote above, “faith in God changes the entire outcome.”

I am putting all of my faith in God and moving forward during the last several years. People have been worried about me because I am doing this. They see amazing things happen to me and it puzzles them. I have left everything behind and God has prospered me. This will be the third time in 2 years. I am not afraid. God has a purpose and a plan for what he is doing with me.

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

I cannot have what God wants to give me if I am afraid to let go of the world’s version of security and step up in faith to obey God 100%. Trusting God really is an all or nothing proposition.
We are living in strange times. The world is changing rapidly now. Trusting God is my only plan.
